Launching Ceremony of Disaster Preparedness Products
NDMC in collaboration with UNESCAP, UNDP and Japan Embassy in Maldives organized a product launch ceremony on October 13 at STELCO Auditorium. This launch aimed to increase resilience in island communities and boost emergency response mechanism.
As a part of the launch, NDMC launched its two new products - ‘Dhandhaana - Disaster Alerting System' - and ‘Kuri - Resource Pack for Island Councils'. These products were launched by Minister of Defence and National Security, Honorable Adam Shareef Umar and UNDP Resident Representative to Maldives Ms Shoko Noda.
The launch commenced with an official note by Deputy Minister of Ministry of Defence and National Security Ms Fathimath Thasneem, followed by the ‘Kuri’ product launch, keynote presentations and Launch of ‘Dhandhaana’ along with a presentation on the product. The launch ceremony was concluded by refreshments followed by a workshop on the Disaster Alerting System, whereby the participants were provided with important information on Common Alerting Protocols.
Commenting on the launch, Ms Shoko Noda highlighted on the importance of building a strong inter-agency partnership.
