Formulation of disaster management plan concludes in Ha. Kelaa
Island disaster management planning workshop concluded in H.A Kelaa with 26 participants (7 Females and 19 Males) on 15th of April. Program was conducted from 09 April 2017 - 14 April 2017. All Institutes in the Island took part in the program including Fenaka, School, Police, Health Center, NGO's, Youths and Island Council.
This 7 day workshop have been designed to stimulate as much input as possible from participants.Participants of Ha.Kelaa CBDRM program developed Vulnerability, Capacity Assessment tools and Mapping for the island with guidance from NDMC facilitators. VCA tools and Maps will enable the participants to identify the hazards, risks, capacities, resources, vulnerabilities..etc, of the Island and in the community at the end of the program.
To summarize, NDMC and Kelaa council organized a Multi-hazard Emergency response and Evacuation drill to test out Kelaa Disaster Management Plan on 14th of April 2017 in the Island. Certification was awarded to the participants in an event held on 15th April 2017. Deputy Minister, Ms Fathmath Thasneem along with Director General, Ms Sofeenaz Hassan was presented in the closing ceremony held on Saturday.
